Luis Alemañy is a prominent figure in Puerto Rico’s economic and business sectors, recognized as a turnaround leader,
value creator, strategist, entrepreneur, game-changer, and philanthropist. He has over 25 years of experience spanning
operations, manufacturing, general management, finance, accounting, and sales & marketing, achieving outstanding
results in both government agencies and Fortune 500 companies. Alemañy holds a master’s degree in Industrial
Management and a BBA in Finance from the University of Puerto Rico, as well as a certification in Entrepreneurship and
Business from Babson College. He is also certified in Lean Six Sigma. Throughout his career, Alemañy has held multiple
leadership roles, transforming organizations such as Pepsi, 3M, Baxter, Amgen, and Toshiba. As an entrepreneur, he
acquired assets from American Tools, Inc., founding SJT Manufacturing in 2019—an ISO 9001–certified company that
leads the production of metal products in P .R for global distribution. He also established SJT Logistics to support clients’
warehousing and inventory management needs.
From 2017 to 2020, Alemañy served on various boards of directors, including as vice president of the Public-Private
Partnerships Authority and as a director of the Puerto Rico Convention Center District Authority. In 2015, he was
president of the Association for Financial Professionals Chapter of Puerto Rico and chairman of the board for St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital. In 2021, he was appointed by the Governor of P .R to lead the Economic Development
Bank of Puerto Rico, rescuing it from imminent closure due to an uncapitalized balance with a $16 million deficit. By
2024, Alemañy had achieved a major turnaround, delivering $135 million in positive capital, reducing the delinquency
rate from 38% to 7%, and positioning the bank as the island’s premier commercial institution for start-up financing.
