Beto Altamirano is an entrepreneur and civic leader shaping the future of cities at the intersection of technology, policy, and public service. He is the CEO & Co-founder of Irys Technologies, an AI-driven firm delivering security and resilience for mission-critical systems, and serves as CEO of Tech Bloc, a nonprofit advancing innovation, economic development, and tech advocacy across San Antonio and Central Texas. 

A native of South Texas, Beto’s commitment to public service was forged along the U.S.–Mexico border and includes service with the Texas House, U.S. Senate, White House, and Alamo Area MPO. He co-founded the Better Futures Institute and launched the Civic Tech Scholars program to expand pathways into STEM and public service, directing capital toward scholarships and paid internships that have connected more than 130 scholars with public agencies and industry partners. In 2025, as a first-time candidate, he ran a breakthrough campaign for Mayor of San Antonio, finishing third citywide in a field of 27 candidates. He later founded Plan 210 PAC to champion economic opportunity and inclusive innovation in San Antonio. 

Beto is a Presidential Leadership Scholar, a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, and a U.S. Department Mandela Fellow. He serves on the national board of LiftFund, a nonprofit small-business lender. He previously served as Vice Chair of the Board of Port San Antonio, represented the U.S. on the UNECE Task Force on Digitalization in Energy, and holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Center for Public Leadership Fellow.
